Will I have to use a different username and password?
No, you will continue to use your MIDAS ID and password to log into the workstations.
Will I have to do anything differently to log into my workstation?
You will have to make one change the first time you log into your workstation after being migrated but no further change will be required to log in.
Will I still have an H:\ drive?
Yes, you will still have an H:\ drive which will be accessed the same way while on campus. See here (WebDav info) for information on accessing your files off campus.
Will all my files still be on my H:\ and J:\ drives?
Yes, OCCS will move all your files for you when your account is migrated. When you log in after your migration, all your files should appear as they were.
Will I still have my favorites?
Yes, your profile will also be migrated for you.
Will I be able to print to the same printers?
Yes, you will continue to have access to the same printers you did prior to being migrated
What is the difference between Active Directory and Novell and what is the reason for the change?
Novell and Active Directory are file, print and authentication environments. Due to a changing institutional focus and a need to provide greater functionality to our user community OCCS determined it was necessary to make this transition.
Will I have to reconfigure Outlook and Communicator?
No, Outlook and Communicator will now automatically log you in once you have logged into your workstation. There will be no configuration needed on your part. If this is the first time you have logged onto your computer, then you will get an Outlook setup dialog. In the Outlook setup dialog, you do not need to enter in any information; just keep clicking "Next" until the setup is done and it will configure Outlook automatically.
Will my signature and other customizations carry over?
Your signature and any stationary will be migrated, but any non-default settings that you may have set in Outlook will not be carried over.
Will my rules and contacts carry over?
Yes, your rules & contacts are stored on the server and will migrate.
Will my recent contact history carry over?
The Outlook feature called "recent contact history" which suggests email addresses as you type a name on the To: field will not carry over. Outlook will need to relearn which email addresses you send to frequently to begin suggesting addresses again.
Will my "Recent Documents" history in Office 2007 carry over?
No, this information will not migrate. Your files will migrate, but the recent history of which files you have accessed does not carry over.
