TECHNICAL SPECS

To meet the computing requirements at Old Dominion University, a student may elect to purchase a recommended notebook through the Mobile Monarch Program, or they may obtain a non-program notebook on their own. Non-program notebooks must still meet or exceed certain technical requirements listed below. Notebooks which do not meet the minimum requirements do not fulfill the computer requirement.

Minimum Software Requirements
In addition to meeting the minimum hardware requirements listed above, students who elect not to purchase a notebook through the program are advised to purchase and install the following software to meet the software expectations.

  • Windows XP Professional/Vista Home Premium
  • Microsoft Office Professional 2003 or newer (see the Monarch Techstore for purchasing options)
  • McAfee Anti-virus software (see our Downloads page)
  • Adobe Reader 8
  • Quick Time Player
