Remote Lab (Citrix Application Portal)

The Remote Lab provides access to applications required by specific courses that are unique or high cost and may not be available at other VCCS institutions to support the Teletechnet and DL programs.

From the OCCS Campus Labs:

  1. Go to http://remotelab.odu.edu
  2. Type in your MIDAS ID and password in their respective boxes. Click "Log In". In the application box you should see the application you would like to run.
  3. Click the application to run it.

From Home:

Install the Citrix Client

  1. Visit http://www.citrix.com.
  2. Click on the Downloads link at the top.
  3. Click on the Citrix Clients link.
  4. In the "Switch Product" drop-down choose "Citrix XenApp".
  5. Under the "Results for" click on XenApp Plugin (Client).
  6. Click the Download link next to "XenApp Web Plugin" with the ".exe" extension to download the file.
  7. Save the file to a location on your machine.
  8. Browse to the downloaded client and double click it to start the installation.
  9. Follow any on screen instructions to complete the installation.
  10. Go to http://remotelab.odu.edu
  11. Type in your MIDAS ID and password in their respective boxes. Click "Log In". In the application box you should see the application you would like to run.
  12. Click the application to run it.

Information for Faculty/Staff:

To have you application hosted on the remote lab visit Citrix Access Request. This link will take you to footprints. You will create issue, complete the first 2 sections and when you get to the 3 section "problem type" choose "server support intel".  Then enter a "category" of "no choice". If you need access to certain shared resources via the application farm, be sure to note these when applying for an account.
