PC/MACINTOSH HARDWARE
The contract for maintenance of PC/Macintosh hardware and peripherals has been awarded to the
Norfolk based Electronic Systems, Incorporated (ESI). The ESI contract provides fixed-priced service contracts at five different service levels, as well as, a general Time and Materials rate. In addition, ESI is a designated Authorized Warranty Service provider for Dell, HP, IBM, Okidata and Cisco. ESI is currently working with Gateway to be appointed a Authorized Service Provider for all Gateway equipment. Although ESI is not an Authorized Service Provider (ASP) for Apple equipment, services can be provided by ESI via their ASP sub-contractor Connecting Point Computer Center.
General Information
The contact number for all ESI service plans is 06-221-0010-HRS . Download Price List information . For all service calls, technicians will carry a parts kit containing the most common
service-related items to facilitate completion of the repair in a single trip. Repairs will be performed on-site unless permission is given by the department to have the work done at the ESI's facility. Fixed price contract for printers do not include maintenance kits and other consumables.
ESI can provide other professional IT services such as Network Engineers, System Engineers, Network Consultants, Project Managers, and WAN Engineers. The hourly rates for these services are $92, $110, $110, and $126 respectively. See the Price List Information attachment for additional information. The fixed price contract for printers do not cover color or most high speed workgroup printers such as the HP8100, 8150, 9000, or 9500. Special rates are available for these devices. The quoted ESI T&M rates are extended t o personal equipment owned by Old Dominion University faculty, staff, and students. Equipment must be taken to the Monarch Techstore on the Norfolk campus. All work must be paid for at the time of completion.
Time and Materials (T&M)
- Rate is $55.00 per hour, with a one-half hour minimum charge and all additional time billed in one-quarter hour increments, rounded up or down to the closest 15-minute increment for actual time used to repair the equipment.
- Billable time includes only that time which is spent doing the repair; there will be no charge for travel time.
- The technician will provide a written estimate of the cost to perform a Time and Material repair prior to making the actual repair.
- The department will be accessed a $30 fee if they elect not to have the work performed
after they have been provided with the written estimate. - Faculty, staff, and students may also get their personal machines repaired under the Time
and Materials portion of this contract by taking their equipment to the Monarch Techstore. - All Terms and Conditions of the contract apply to include the assessment of the $30 fee if the employee/student elects not to have the repair made after receiving the written estimate.
- Parts installed will come with a 1 year warranty on the part and 90 warranty on the labor.
- Internal components will be installed for a flat fee of $25 if the driver is loaded automatically from the Operating System or $35 if the driver must be installed from media or downloaded.
- The hourly rate does not include the backup of data on the machines. This service will be provided if requested by the customer for a flat fee of $30.

Faculty, staff, and students must contact the Monarch Techstore to arrange for an estimate and repair service of their personal owned equipment.
