Residential Network (ResNet)
ResNet, ODU's residential network, provides users with network connectivity in student housing.
Telecommunications
All faculty requesting new phone connections may do so through the Telecommunications Work Request, this applies to new Network jacks and other phone services. Note that a phone line is provided for each room on student housing.
MonarchVision (CableTV)
This service will include entertainment, news, sports, foreign language,and educational programming.
Wireless LAN
You can gain wireless access to the ODU Network from most outdoor common areas, library, auditoriums and buildings with assigned access points.
IUser
Internet User (IUser) is a web-based utility that allows Old Dominion University faculty, staff and students to access and manage files stored on the University's NetWare servers from any location via an Internet browser.
Remote Desktop Access to the University
The University will be supporting the use of Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) from off campus to support remote access to applications and files from the desktop. The use of Remote Desktop will require supervisor’s permission and prior completion of a Blackboard Remote User’s training course. Access will be provided through the ODU Campus VPN.
ODU Virtual Private Network (VPN)
The University currently supports access to ODU resources via a ODU Campus VPN. Access to the VPN requires the completion the Blackboard Remote User’s training course. VPN access will be required to access user files for faculty and staff after the migration from Novell to a Microsoft Active Directory environment.
Remote Access to User Files and Shares
On campus access to Windows files is accomplished through your Windows AD account, which maps drives to your home folder and shared departmental and campus folders. Laptop and remote access to your ODU Windows files is accomplished by using WebDAV, as outlined in these instructions.
